On Tuesday, Sept. 29, the U.S. U-20 national team rebounded from their opening match debacle with a strong victory. Coming off an opening 3-0 loss in their first match of the U-20 World Cup, the U.S. played like they had something to prove against Cameroon, beating them 4-1 in front of 28,000 fans at Mubarak Stadium in Suez, Egypt.

Throughout the first half Cameroon had more chances on goal than the U.S. but neither team could break through and score. Then just as the half was coming to an end, Bryan Arguez put the U.S. up 1-0, with a great shot that hit the roof of the net in the 46th minute.

The second half began with the U.S. making the score 2-0 with a goal from Tony Taylor off an assist from Dilly Duka in the 47th minute. Twenty minutes later Duka found the back of the net off an errant cross that found the side netting to give the U.S. a 3-0 lead.

Cameroon would get on the scoreboard in the 75th minute when Banana Yaya converted a penalty kick to cut the score to 3-1. With Cameroon pushing players forward the U.S. put the icing on the cake when Brian Ownby slotted a shot into the left corner pushing the score to 4-1.

The win puts the U.S. into 2nd place in group C on goal differential. The top two teams from each group qualify with the four top third place finishers also qualifying for the knockout stage. In the other match Germany and Korea Republic tied 1-1.
