There is still controversy surrounding Elizabeth Lambert’s in game tirade that has resulted in a suspension for her and worldwide attention to the incidents that occurred. Lambert is a starting back on New Mexico which lost to BYU 1-0.  Lambert committed numerous hard fouls and everything was caught on tape.

Yes, Lambert was out of control and let her emotions get the best of her but was it really that bad?  Lambert has since come out and apologized for the incident and says she accepts any punishment she receives from the school. I do think she should be suspended but definitely not for the remainder of the season.

The game of soccer is a physical sport that has incidents like this all the time. It is getting this attention because she is a girl. PERIOD.  The hair pull was the only thing that she did in my opinion that was over the top.  I do think a two or three game suspension would have been enough punishment for her.  To me it looked as the BYU women were antagonizing her throughout the match.
